The National Space Centre's Community Engagement Programme aims to build confidence, grow knowledge, connect and inspire young people and families through space and STEM activity. We support educational and career pathways emphasising accessibility and being part of Leicester's community and space heritage.

Our Core Programmes:

🚀IGNITE! Pathway
A progressive education and careers pathway offering age-specific STEM engagement through fun, hands-on activities during After School Clubs and Holiday Clubs (Easter & Summer).
🛰️ Space Cadets: school years 3-6
👩‍🚀 Space Captains: school years 7-8
🪐 Space Commanders: school years 9-11.

🌌 Alternative Space
An 8-week, personalised development programme designed for young people aged 11–16 accessing Alternative Provision or specific charity services.
Through a combination of engaging, practical sessions at both their provision sites and the National Space Centre, participants gain a sense of belonging, capability, and inspiration.

🤝 Partnership Events
We collaborate with local partners to bring space-themed activities to communities across Leicester, both on-site at the National Space Centre and off-site in local venues.
⭐ Featured Initiative:
Haymarket Half Terms – A free, interactive family event held during school holidays at the Haymarket Shopping Centre.

We also offer bespoke sessions for community organisations and charities. Whether you’re interested in a one-off event or a custom series, we’d love to explore how we can work together.
